Traumatic experiences across the lifespan often lead to long-term negative consequences on mental health. Recent studies on trauma- and stress-related disorders reveal diverse trajectories of human responses to adverse life experiences. Various mental disorders associated with stress, such as adjustment disorder, prolonged grief, or complex posttraumatic stress disorder call for novel approaches to providing trauma treatment for those in need.
